Dr. Ghulam Murtaza earned his medical degree at Dow University of Health Sciences in Karachi, Pakistan. He completed residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago-Advocate Christ Medical Center and fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine.
Dr. Murtaza is board-certified in four areas: Internal Medicine, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiovascular Computed Tomography. He is eligible for board certification in General Cardiology. His clinical interests focus on cardiac imaging, including echocardiography, stress testing and cardiac CT, and he sees patients for a variety of cardiovascular-related conditions, including preventive cardiology, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular disease and rhythm disorders such as atrial fibrillation.
His approach to patient care is simple: he treats his patients the way he wants to be treated. He looks at every patient as an individual, each with different challenges, and provides comprehensive care for the whole person, rather than solely focusing on the heart itself. He listens carefully and takes time to answer questions so when patients leave his clinic, they fully understand their medical condition.
When he is away from his practice, Dr. Murtaza’s favorite activities are sports—football, basketball, tennis and golf—and spending time with his family.
